Animals At Philadelphia Zoo Bask In Spring Sunshine

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Zoo is always a popular place to go on a beautiful sunny day. Even the animals looked like they were enjoying the spring weather.

The animals are spending more time outdoors, including the Hippos Unna and Cindy. Having tons of fun, munching on melons, and splashing around in their pool.

"The watermelons are a treat. Typically their diet is hay, because they're vegetarians, they get ten pounds of lettuce each day and pretty much and vegetable. They are very food motivated," said zookeeper Ellen Bartuska.

Visitors were also enjoying the water at Bird Lake, where swan paddle boats can be rented now through the Fall.
