Children Discover 8-Foot Cobra In Springfield Front Yard
SPRINGFIELD, Pa. (CBS) -- An 8-foot long False Water Cobra was spotted by the Sparks children from their front window.
It was Tuesday evening. The homework was finished and dinner was wrapping up.

Luckily, the creature that experts say is generally not known to deliver a fatal bite, was outside at the front of the Spring Valley Road property in Springfield Township, Delaware County.
"So I saw it in the driveway, slithering and I'm like yep, that's a big one." Bess Sparks says a bus full of high school students was passing by. A student took a picture and sent it to her uncle, whom we're told knows how to handle snakes. He then came over.
"He told us to get a trash can. He had a his little stick, got the snake in the can. It did lunge when he was trying to put it in the trash can, so he did see the hood, so he knew it was some form of a cobra."

The entire ordeal was quite the spectacle. A slithering snake surprise right on the front lawn, an experience that this family won't soon forget. "You know, once we knew it was probably a pet, or not native to here, that made me feel a lot better, because now I know I don't have to go out and see a cobra in Springfield," Sparks said.
Springfield Township police announced that the snake was reunited with its owner on Wednesday.
