8 Charged In Ongoing NJ Illegal Dumping Investigation
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Eight more people have been charged with illegal dumping in New Jersey's state parks and nature areas.
The Department of Environmental Protection has been cracking down on illegal dumping as part of a campaign launched in March.
Among the eight people charged recently were a man charged with dumping paint, insulation, motor oil and shingles at a wildlife management area in Oldmans Township, Salem County, and a man who allegedly dumped construction debris in the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area in Allentown.
Fines in the cases range from $250 to $1,500. Some previous violators have faced fines up to $25,000.
The DEP's crackdown has led to 28 arrests or enforcement actions. Motion-sensor cameras in wildlife areas and state parks have helped nab violators.
