WEATHER: 4th Largest Snowstorm For Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The official snow total for PHL is 22.4", making it the 4th largest snowstorm on record. This was less than 1" shy of being the 3rd largest. Philadelphia was not the only location setting new records. Allentown set a new all time snowstorm record with 31.9".
Today is a good day to dig out as the storm has moved well offshore and the sun has returned. There will be melting taking place today with the sunshine, but untreated areas that are not exposed to the sun will remain icy. More refreezing will occur tonight as low temperatures drop into the teens and possibly single digits with the fresh snowpack on the ground. Beware of black ice on the roads and sidewalks tonight and Monday morning.
Coastal flooding along the NJ & DE coast is still a concern this morning with a recent high tide around 8am. A coastal flood warning remains in effect until noon today. The winds have shifted back offshore so that will help lower the higher than normal tides.
The weather pattern this week remains quiet overall with temperatures slowly warming up each day. There is a chance of a rain shower on Tuesday, otherwise expect sunshine this week to help melt the snow.
