24th Annual Santa Express Pulls Into Dilworth Park

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Santa Claus has arrived in Philadelphia to kick off the holiday season.

Santa and Mrs. Clause arrived at the new Rothman Ice Skating Rink at City Hall's Dilworth Park on Friday via SEPTA on the 24th annual Santa Express.

"It's all busy and crowded and bustling," said one girl, "and everyone is having a fun time."

The big man was accompanied on the subway by musicians, elves, reindeer, and, of course, SEPTA riders, many of whom were surprised to see Santa on the train.

"We were really excited. All the elves were helping him get on the train and stuff. It was really fun."

Santa Claus then laced up his skates, got on the ice and took a spin.

Kuznits: "Is he a good ice skater?"

"Yeah!"

Kuznits: "Where do you think he learned that?"

"The North Pole and the penguins."
