23-Year-Old Man Targeted In Deadly Home Invasion In Rhawnhurst, Police Say

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 23-year-old man has died after police say he was shot twice during a home invasion. The incident happened shortly before 8:15 p.m. on the 1900 block of Stanwood Street in Philadelphia's Rhawnhurst neighborhood on Thursday.

Police say at least two suspects entered 23-year-old Jeffrey Sandine's home and headed to his bedroom before firing at least two shots.

"The front door of this private residence was forced open because there was damage to the front door," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. "It doesn't appear that robbery was a motive at this time because nothing was ransacked and nothing was taken."

Sandine suffered one gunshot wound to his chest and one in his side. He was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he later died.

The suspects allegedly confronted Sandine's mother before shooting him.

According to police, the victim was targeted. Nothing was stolen from the home, authorities say.

Police say they are looking for at least two men who got away in a Chrysler minivan with a loud muffler. The vehicle may have New Jersey plates.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The homicide remains under investigation.
