2 Philadelphia Area Schools Make List Of Most Underrated Colleges In The Country

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Business Insider has ranked two local colleges among the most underrated in the country.

Both Drexel University, in Philadelphia, and Widener University, in Chester, made the list of 50.

Cited for its thriving Greek scene and proximity to Philly as well as its average mid-career salary of over $84,000, Widener came in at number seven, just behind Hofstra.

The write-up on Drexel, which ranked 48th, included a mention of its co-op program, central location near downtown Philly, as well as its average mid-career salary of about $89,000.

The most underrated college, according to Business Insider, is the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where the majority of graduates are employed as soon as they're finished with school and make almost $100,000 on average 10 years later.

Business Insider says it compiled the list of schools by comparing US News rankings with PayScale's 2013-2014 College Salary report.
