2 Penn State Students Get Probation After Pleas In Graffiti Case
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Two Penn State students have been ordered to spend two years on probation after pleading guilty to spray-painting swastikas and other symbols near a Jewish fraternity last year.
Prosecutors in Centre County said 20-year-old Eric Hyland of Export entered the plea Monday to charges of ethnic intimidation and criminal mischief.
Nineteen-year-old Hayden Grom of New Fairfield, Connecticut, entered a plea to the same charges last month.
Authorities said the two spray-painted sexual, graphic and anti-Semitic words and images on at least a dozen cars, a trash container and a garage outside the Beta Sigma Beta fraternity in State College in November.
Prosecutors said both men were students and members of another fraternity, which expelled them and condemned their actions.
