2 Ocean County Police Officers Injured When SUV Crashes Into Cruisers

PINE BEACH, N.J. (CBS) – Two officers were injured late Friday night when a car crashed into parked police cruisers in Pine Beach, Ocean County.

This happened around 11:30 p.m.

Investigators say it started when 23-year-old officer Jesse Urban stopped a car on Route 9. Another officer, 23-year-old Robert King arrived and parked behind Urban's vehicle.

Later, an SUV driven by 43-year-old Jeff Charston drifted off the road and struck the officer's vehicles.

Officer Urban remains hospitalized with broken ribs. Officer King, along with Charston and another passenger in is vehicle, have all been released from the hospital.

Charges are pending on toxicology results. Officials are investigating.
