2 Europeans Arrested For Allegedly Installing Skimming Device On Center City ATM Machine

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two people have been arrested for allegedly installing a skimming device on a Center City ATM machine.

On Saturday, May 6th, police were notified about a skimming device found on the machine on the 1800 block of JFK Boulevard.

Surveillance footage showed a female placing tape over the ATM camera and installing the device several times starting on May 3rd.

A few weeks later, police arrested a 24-year-old female, Aura Voicu, of Queens, New York and Silviu Serban, a 30-year-old male from Sunnyside, New York.

Both Voicu and Serban were charged with Theft-Unlawful Taking, Theft-Receiving Stolen Property, Access Device Fraud, Unlawful Use of a Computer, Possessing an Instrument of Crime, Tampering with Records, and related offenses.

Officials say the two suspects are in the U.S. on expired tourist visas from Eastern Europe.
