2 Arrested For Allegedly Running Makeshift Meth Lab Inside Burlington County Hotel Room

BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – Police say two people have been arrested for allegedly running a makeshift meth lab inside a hotel room in South Jersey.

Officers were conducting a patrol check of the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites on Feb. 21st around 11 p.m. when they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from one of the rooms.

Police made contact with the occupants and saw several items of drug paraphernalia as well as evidence of methamphetamine production inside the room.

The two occupants were taken into custody and the items, which included chemicals used to produce meth and empty vials, were seized as evidence.

A small amount of both marijuana and heroin was also recovered.

The two suspects, identified as 32-year-old Benjamin P. Shulman and 29-year-old Dana L. Ackerman, were arrested on various drug-related charges.

Burlington County Hazmat Unit and NJSP responded to decontaminate the hotel room.
