By Dan Wing

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) - Authorities in Atlantic County say a 14-year-old boy charged with murdering a 13-year old boy from Atlantic City turned himself into authorities Sunday night.

The 14-year old faces charges of murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses in connection with the fatal shooting of 13-year old Angel Mercado-Santiago last week (see related story).

Authorities say the 14-year old suspect fired several shots at a group of teens hanging out on an Atlantic City Street. Mercado-Santiago was struck in the chest. A 15-year old boy was also shot in the leg, but survived.

Authorities would not identify the suspect because of his age, but say he surrendered with his attorney present and is now being held at the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
