11 Injured, Including 2 Children, In Roosevelt Boulevard Crashes In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say 11 people, including two children, were injured in three separate accidents overnight along a one-mile stretch of the Roosevelt Boulevard in North Philadelphia.

It started with vicious single car crash at around 2 a.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes between Wissahickon Avenue and Broad Street.

Police say the driver lost control of the SUV, slammed into the median and flipped over. The impact was so bad, police say, that a 7-year-old boy and a man were elected from the vehicle, and a second 7-year-old boy became trapped.

All three were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Four others inside the car suffered minor injuries.

Following that serious accident, investigators say two other vehicles, each with two people inside, were involved in crashes within the same stretch of the Boulevard. Their conditions have not been released.

The accidents had the northbound lanes of the Roosevelt Boulevard shut down for about five hours.

Police haven't determined the causes of the accidents.
