1 Dead After Intruder Shoots Through Door Of North Philadelphia Home
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – One person is dead after an armed man tried to force his way into a home in North Philadelphia.
Police say that around 1:15 a.m., they responded to the 2200 block of North Cleveland Street, where they found a 36-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
That man was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m.
Police believe the shooter knocked on the door of the victim's house, and when he answered the door, the suspect tried to force his way in.
The victim struggled with the suspect and was able to keep him, but the intruder shot the man through the door three times, causing fatal injuries.
According to police, the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot heading north on Cleveland Street. He was wearing a brightly colored shirt.
There are surveillance cameras in the area, so police hope to use that video to find and arrest the suspect.
Preliminary information seems to indicate the shooting stemmed from an argument.
Police say there is a $20,000 reward for the arrest and conviction in all homicide cases in the City of Philadelphia.
