1 Dead After House Fire In Brewerytown

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – One person is dead after a fire in Philadelphia's Brewerytown section.

Around 6:49 a.m., crews were called to 2625 West Thompson Street for reports of a fire.

On arrival, firefighters found visible smoke and a fire in a two-story brick home.

The fire was placed under control around 7:05 a.m.

During a search of the structure, firefighters found an older woman dead inside.

Firefighters say there was only one non-functioning smoke detector inside the home and it was in the basement.

An investigation is underway.
