1 Dead In Fire At Delco Center For People With Disabilities

MEDIA, Pa. (CBS) – A man is dead after a fire Wednesday night at an assisted living center for people with disabilities in Media, Delaware County.

The fire was reported around 9:40 p.m. at the Elwyn Institute on the unit block of Elwyn Road in Middletown Township.

The building at the fire contained 39 residents along with 13 staff members.

Middletown Township fire chief Chip Lilly says, "They had one person unaccounted for at that particular point in time who had since succumbed to their injuries in the fire."

Police identified the victim as 63-year-old William J. Myers.

Two other staff members were treated for smoke inhalation.

There's no word on a cause. Fire officials continue to investigate.
