Remnants of Nicole and our weekend weather ahead

As the remnants of Hurricane Nicole spin past the area through early Saturday, the Philly region will be impacted in several ways.

Showers and storms will continue overnight, ending by sunrise on Saturday. You'll need to hang on to your hats though on Saturday because a wind advisory is in effect for the Jersey Shore through 9 a.m. Saturday with gusts up to 50 MPH. Elsewhere 30 MPH gusts are possible.

Much of Saturday will remain mild in the mid and upper 60s (10-15 degrees above average) with a mix of sun and clouds. By Saturday evening, spotty showers are possible as a cold front approaches from the west. This is the same front that steered the remnants of Nicole over the Philly area.

Time to locate that winter coat because behind the cold front an area of high pressure descends from Canada bringing the coldest air of the season thus far. Sunday will be chilly with below normal highs hovering near 50 under partly sunny skies. Temperatures drop even further for the work week ahead with highs only in the mid-40's on Monday.

Philadelphia and areas along I-95 may see the first freezing temperatures of the season next week with morning lows Monday and Tuesday between 32-34 degrees.

Monday night will be cold for the Eagles game at the Linc. You will need the heavier puffy coats. At kick-off temperatures will be in the low 40s and drop into the 30s by 11 p.m.

A coastal storm will bring clouds Tuesday and rain showers on Tuesday night and Wednesday. With cold air in place, there may even be snow showers in the Poconos.

If you are looking forward to more 70-degree days this month, don't hold your breath. The pattern has changed and we are in for a long cold stretch with highs 10 degrees below normal, in the 40s and low 50s through Thanksgiving.

South Jersey sees flooded roadways and cars driving through them

Ponding forms on roads across Camden County as remnants of Nicole arrive

Over on Harding Avenue in Bellmawr, CBS3 is seeing a good amount of ponding on the roadway. Camden County says earlier this week, crews were out clearing debris from storm drains in anticipation of this storm.

But there's only little they can do for low-lying areas like Bellmawr and Brooklawn.

In both areas, CBS3 was seeing cars choosing not to turn around and instead driving through the water and even cars speeding through causing water to splash up.

The best thing to do is turn around and avoid these roads.
