Tanaka Strong As Yankees Top Winless Orioles, 7-1

TAMPA, Fla. (CBSNewYork/AP)Masahiro Tanaka allowed one hit over three shutout innings in his second spring training start, and the Yankees beat the winless Baltimore Orioles 7-1 Friday.

Coming off a procedure in October to remove a bone spur from his throwing elbow, Tanaka is lined up to start opening day on April 4 against Houston and AL Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel.

South Korean outfielder Hyun Soo Kim had a second-inning infield single in three at-bats for the Orioles, who dropped to 0-10-2.

Kim, 2-for-27, reached on an infield single in the seventh for his first hit in Thursday's 4-4 tie with a Yankees split squad.

Brian McCann had a two-run single in the first for the Yankees. Jacoby Ellsbury, 5-for-12 overall, also drove in two runs.

The Yankees will play Tampa Bay at 1:05 p.m. Saturday.
