Gardner Goes Yard In Bombers' 3-2 Spring Training Win Over Miami

MIAMI (AP) -- Jose Fernandez struck out seven and allowed one run in four innings for the Miami Marlins in a 3-2 loss to the New York Yankees on Friday night.

Brett Gardner homered off Fernandez, and Alex Rodriguez went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts for New York.

Fernandez allowed two hits and did not walk a batter. He threw 41 of 50 pitches for strikes in his final spring appearance. His first start of the regular season is on April 6 against Detroit.

Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton went 1 for 2 with a run scored.

Nathan Eovaldi allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings for New York, and Lane Adams hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the ninth.
