Woman Suffers Serious Burns In Brentwood House Explosion

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- An explosion leveled a home in Suffolk County, Long Island and sent a woman to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious burns.

According to arson investigators, the explosion was caused by a propane line that ruptured while a stove was being moved after painting was done in an apartment at the Brentwood home.

A co-owner of the home said the woman was renting an apartment there, Newsday reported.

Suffolk police identified the victim as Ryan Flanagan and said she is "in her 20s."

Flanagan was listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit with burns to her lower extremities.

The house appeared to be destroyed in the blast. It was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
