Woman Struck, Killed On Flatbush Avenue In Prospect Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday evening on the stretch of Flatbush Avenue that runs through Prospect Park in Brooklyn.

The accident happened Monday night on Flatbush Avenue between Grand Army Plaza and Empire Boulevard, police told CBS 2.

The 48-year-old woman was walking west across Flatbush Avenue when she was struck by a driver heading south on Flatbush Avenue, police said.

The woman, identified as Sokhna Niang of Staten Island, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police told CBS 2 the driver initially fled off, but later came back. Police identified the driver as a 37-year-old man.

The investigation continued early Tuesday morning.
