EMTs Investigated After Woman Pronounced Dead At Shooting Scene In Queens Later Found Alive
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police investigating the scene of what they thought was a fatal shooting in New York City on Thursday made a startling discovery when they found the victim was still alive.
Emergency medical workers responding to the shooting in Queens had pronounced 32-year-old Diana Rodriguez dead with a gunshot wound to the head, WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola reported.
But police said about an hour later, officers heard Rodriguez making sounds and realized she was still alive.
Rodriguez was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition. She later died, according to the hospital.
The FDNY said the EMS workers who pronounced Rodriguez dead were from Jamaica Hospital. The department said the EMTs are being investigated and have been restricted from participating in the 911 system, CBS2 reported.
Jamaica Hospital said it was also investigating the incident, but would not comment further.
