Woman Jumps Into Freezing Central Park Lake To Save Dog

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A dog owner leaped into a freezing lake in Central Park on Sunday morning to rescue her dog from drowning.

The New York Post reported the woman was walking five dogs on the northern edge of the park when one of the pooches ran away and jumped into the Harlem Meer, a man-made lake.

The partially frozen lake is surrounded by signs that warn of dangerous thin ice.

The woman jumped in after the dog and police used a life preserver to pull her and the animal out of the water.
