Woman Hit By Train, Killed After Falling On Subway Tracks

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A woman was fatally hit by a New York City subway train after falling on the tracks at a busy station, police said.

Authorities were continuing Sunday to investigate details of the death Saturday afternoon. It happened at the Union Square station in Manhattan.

The woman apparently accidentally tumbled onto the tracks around 3:15 p.m., as a southbound No. 4 train approached, a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman said.

The Fire Department said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was in her 20s. Her name hasn't been released.
