Woman, 67, Dead Following Bronx Apartment Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – An apartment fire in the Bronx has killed one person dead, 1010 WINS' Darius Radzius reported Friday evening.

"It's very sad, we just found out about it," one resident said.

The woman, 67, was taken to Lincoln Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

"She's very nice, very nice, she gets along with everybody," one woman said.

Emergency vehicles were called to an apartment building on East 149th Street in Mott Haven around 4 p.m.

Firefighters brought the fire, which was mainly in the bedroom, under control in less than an hour.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
