Winter Supplies Flying Off The Shelves As Snow, Ice Moves In

COMMACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Too much ice and snow on the ground-- and more in the forecast-- has those in the winter supply business making a list and checking it twice.

As WCBS 880's Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported, supplies are running thin and some stores are running out of winter items.

"Last year, we ran out of salt, calcium chloride. This year, the pellets are a popular item, but that seems to have run out. I'm not sure, I heard rumors there would be nothing by the beginning of the year but we're into February now," Al Hagler of Kings Hardware in Farmingdale said.

If it melts ice, Hagler said it's hot on the shelves.
