Windows Smashed On Dozens Of Cars In Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A search was under way Wednesday night for the vandal or vandals who targeted dozens of cars in Yonkers.

Car after car along Midland Avenue in Yonkers were vandalized. More than 60 in total were struck overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Windows were smashed in, although police said in most cases, the thieves bypassed pricey electronics.

The thieves appeared to be searching for valet keys in glove compartments, police said. In one incident, a truck was stolen and later recovered a few blocks away.

"They must've been here at 3, 4 in morning for nobody to hear," said victim Beth Lavoie.

"It's going to be a hassle; probably going to have to take a couple of weeks of paperwork and calls," added victim Stephen Fowler.

Police have been scouring through surveillance video, looking to get a glimpse of the suspects.
