Winds stick around across Tri-State Area through weekend

First Alert Weather: Windy weekend in New York - 3/7/25

Winds have been howling since Thursday night, and in some locations, gusts close to tropical storm force were recorded.

While advisory level winds are no longer expected, gusts between 30-40 mph are likely all weekend long. The ongoing winds, along with very low levels of humidity will lead to an increased risk of wildfire development throughout the weekend as well.

NYC weekend forecast

For Friday night, skies will become mostly cloudy, and a stray flurry or shower is possible through the morning hours of Saturday. Lows will mainly be in the 30s. Skies will then clear out by Saturday afternoon, with a blustery chill, and highs in the mid 40s.

Not much of a change will be in place for Sunday, with highs nudging only slightly into the upper 40s.

Spring-like temperatures return to NYC

Next week is when there will be a big change though. Beginning Monday, a return to spring-like temperatures will resume, and highs in the 50s and 60s will replace highs in the 40s.
