Wild Turkey Takes Up Residence At Closter, NJ Supermarket Parking Lot

CLOSTER, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Maybe because it's April and not November, but life has been good for a wild turkey that calls a northern New Jersey supermarket parking lot home.

According to state Fish and Wildlife Division, the turkey dubbed Tom-Tom is a young male, known as a jake.

Shoppers and employees at the A&P in Closter have taken a liking to the wild bird, leaving it bread and blueberries to eat.

Butcher Carlos Henriquez even said Tom-Tom has started to attract new customers to the store, The Record reported.

Experts said people should stop feeding the turkey, as he could become aggressive as he grows and starts showing off to attract a mate.
