What About Jimmer? Knicks Reportedly Filling Roster Spots With Clark, Brown

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Knicks will fill their two vacant roster spots with forward Earl Clark and guard Shannon Brown, according to ESPN.

Both Clark and Brown have agreed to deals, likely of the 10-day variety, ESPN reported. The Knicks waived forward Metta World Peace and guard Beno Udrih earlier this week.

Clark averaged 5.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 45 games for Cleveland before being traded to Philadelphia and released last week.

Brown, a 28-year-old journeyman, averaged 2.3 points and 1.2 rebounds in 10 games for San Antonio this season.

So where does that leave guard Jimmer Fredette? The Glens Falls native is reportedly on the verge of a buyout with the Sacramento Kings, but at the moment it seems there won't be a roster spot available for the former first-round pick in New York.

"We've heard that four or five teams are interested, including the Knicks, but to what degree, I'm not sure," his father, Al Fredette, told the New York Daily News. "It would be good for Jimmer (to get out of Sacramento), and get more minutes. Agents take care of those things, so I guess we'll find out."

Raymond Felton's future with the team is a major question mark after his arrest Tuesday on gun charges. But the Knicks -- and the NBA -- may wait for the legal process to play out before disciplining him.

That means Fredette, the former BYU shooting star whose minutes have dipped along with his averages (5.9 points, 1.5 assists, 1.1 rebounds) in his third professional season, may need to re-boot his game somewhere outside his home state.

"Every competitive athlete, all they want is a chance to play more, have more minutes, so that's what we're hoping for, and what Jimmer is hoping for," Al Fredette told the Daily News.

Jimmer Fredette scored a career-high 24 points, hitting on six of eight three-pointers, in a win over the Knicks at MSG on Feb. 12.
