Police: Inmate's Wife Smuggled Synthetic Pot Into Westchester County Jail

VALHALLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The wife of an inmate at the Westchester County Jail has been arrested, accused of bringing synthetic marijuana into the jail and possibly sickening several inmates.

Ebony Strange, of White Plains, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of promoting prison contraband.

According to authorities, the 32-year-old woman brought a substance believed to be synthetic marijuana to her husband, Deron Strange, during a visit on July 19.

Westchester County authorities said a total of 13 county jail inmates were hospitalized over the weekend after becoming sick.

O'Leary said preliminary testing indicates the overdoses were caused by a form of synthetic marijuana.

Deron Strange is one of six inmates who were arrested on a charge of promoting prison contraband.
