Westchester Animal Shelter Forced To Close Due To Financial Problems
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Westchester animal shelter is being forced to close due to financial problems.
WCBS 880's Sean Adams reports that it's simply heartbreaking for the folks who work and volunteer at Pets Alive, a no-kill animal sanctuary in Elmsford.
But money is scarce, the building is sinking and crumbling -- causing the shelter to close, says Executive Director Erin Guilshan.
"If people do have options, we want to hear about them," Guilshan said. "If somebody does want to help us, we're more than open to any help at all. We don't want to leave Westchester."
The remaining 80 dogs and 70 cats and kittens desperately need a home.
"How wonderful is it when an animal is living in a home and sitting next to you on a couch, watching TV, and you're just loving it, and they're loving it too."
No animal in this shelter will be euthanize, Guilshan says. Those not adopted will be moved to Middletown.
