A wintry storm hits the Tri-State Area. Here's what to expect Monday.
Parts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut were under a Winter Weather Advisory on Monday morning as a storm coated the roads in snow and a wintry mix.
Messy roads Monday morning
Roads could still be slippery due to the snow, wintry mix and rain across Sussex, Passaic, Warren, Morris, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, Ulster, Dutchess and Fairfield counties.
This system was by no means a major winter storm, but rather a nuisance disrupting the morning commute. The winter weather advisory ended at 11 a.m.
While most areas saw rain, some, particularly north and west of NYC, dealt with a blend of wintry precipitation.
With a storm like this, any periods of freezing rain would be the most concerning, as even a slight glaze of ice on the roads can prove dangerous.
Snow totals
Snow totals are on the lighter side, mainly ranging around one to four inches. As far as rainfall totals, most areas averaged around a half an inch to one inch.
Looking ahead
More rounds of wet weather will keep roads damp for a good portion of the day. Conditions will be unsettled all week, but any remaining rainfall won't be as heavy at the early-morning hours.
While the worst of this storm passed at 8 a.m., the rest of the day will feature light on and off showers. Highs will be milder, reaching the upper 40s and low 50s. It turns even milder Tuesday, when highs could reach the low 60s.
