WCBS 880's Alex Silverman Takes Controls Of Air Show Stunt Plane

WANTAGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- If you go to Jones Beach this weekend to watch the stunt planes soar through the sky at the Bethpage Air Show, you might think to yourself, What does it feel like to be up there?

WCBS 880's Alex Silverman got a chance to fly with one of the world's most experienced aerobatic pilots -- and even took over the controls -- as the tiny two-seater plane rolled and spiraled while barreling through the sky at up to 210 mph.

"I can't even tell if I'm looking up or down," Silverman says at one point.

"What I just did was take a guy who liked roller coasters flying," Sean D. Tucker said after the plane landed. " ... We went straight up into the sky until the wings could no longer fly, and we flipped around and did a hammerhead going down.

"When you're pulling this kind of G, your blood pressure goes up, and your heart's beating a lot harder because you're trying to keep the blood in your head," Tucker said.

Tucker said when he was younger he was afraid of flying.
