Water Main Break Floods Several Blocks On Upper East Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A big mess on the Upper East Side on Saturday may be a result of the extreme cold.

Crews were on the scene of a water main break at Second Avenue and East 75th Street.

The FDNY says the main broke just before 8 a.m.

Flooding extended for several blocks between Second and Third avenues.

Water was shut off in the area so crews could repair the leak and work to de-ice the roadways and sidewalks. Everything was cleaned up by Saturday evening.

It's not clear what caused the water main to break.
