Professor Talks About Walking Every NYC Block, His Book About It

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New Yorkers are known for being big walkers. But can you imagine walking virtually every single block in the Big Apple?

CUNY Sociology Professor William Helmreich has.

He said the idea was likely ingrained in his mind after, as a boy, his father would take him on random trips to city neighborhoods.

"I think in that way, my interest in New York City was kindled at an early age," Helmreich told CBS2's Andrea Grymes in an in-studio interview.

Helmreich has written a book about his journey, which took four years, called "The New York Nobody Knows."
