Victoria's Secret To Stop Producing, Mailing Famous Catalogs

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's the end of an era.

The Victoria's Secret catalog is no more.

In a move to cut costs, the lingerie company will stop producing and mailing their famous mail-order catalogs.

Victoria's Secret would spend about $150 million a year to make approximately 300 million copies.

Company executives said each year fewer people were buying lingerie and other clothing through the catalog and most have switched to shopping online, 1010 WINS' Steve Kastenbaum reported. When testing producing fewer catalogs, they didn't notice a significant drop in sales.

The chain is also ending production of its swimwear, accessories, shoes and most apparel.
