Valley Hospital To Host 'Teddy Bear Clinic'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. is holding a teddy bear clinic this weekend to help young children get comfortable with what they may experience if they have to make a trip to the hospital.

"We're just trying to open their eyes up to many of those things that can happen," Katie Maraventano, child life specialist, told WCBS 880's Pat Farnack.

The clinic will be held Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for children ages 3 to 10 and their teddy bears.

The stuffed animals will get a hospital bracelet before getting its blood pressure and temperature taken. The teddy bear will also get its heart monitored by a stethoscope and a CAT scan and x-ray.

The kids and their teddy bears will also get a tour of an ambulance.
