Police: Virginia Mother Stabs Crying Infant Daughter With Kitchen Knife

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A mother in Virginia stabbed her 3-month old baby with a kitchen knife after the infant wouldn't stop crying, police said.

The baby girl was sent to the hospital.

A Prince William County Police incident report issued Monday says 35-year-old Leah Arrington of Woodbridge is being held without bond on a charge of aggravated malicious wounding.

According to police, Arrington was watching the girl Saturday afternoon in the family home. As the baby continued to cry, police say Arrington stabbed the baby in the lower body.

Another family member called police.

The baby was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and Arrington was arrested. It was not known whether she has a lawyer.
