Man Slashed In Back At Upper West Side Pizzeria

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was slashed in the back in an Upper West Side pizzeria Monday evening, police said.

Employees said it all started with a quarrel over a bottle of water.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. at Mama's Famous Pizza and Burgers, at 2345 Broadway between 85th and 86th streets, police said.

Employees said a man in his 20s came in and tried to take some water without paying.

When an employee chased him, a fight broke out and the worker was slashed in the back, police said.

The suspect ran off afterward, police said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
