US Open Serving Up Some Pricey Food, Drinks

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The food at the US Open might be more sophisticated than at a typical sporting event, but the prices could give you indigestion.

A brisket sandwich sells for $15 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, and a spinach salad costs $14, WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported.

"Twelve dollars for a plate of nachos seems kind of pricey," one tennis fan said.

One man said he paid $16 for a chicken salad and iced tea. A grilled cheese sandwich goes for $10.

But another fan shrugged his shoulders.

"I guess it's market driven," he said. "As long as people are willing to pay the prices, they'll keep going up."

Thirsty fans can buy a Grey Goose cocktail for $15 or a glass of champagne for $25.

A small water sells for $4.
