Man Stabbed In Back On Upper West Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was stabbed in the back late Thursday afternoon on the Upper West Side.

Just after 5 p.m., the man walking down 88th Street near Columbus Avenue when another man pressed a sharp object to his back and demanded the contents of his pockets, police told CBS2.

The suspect then stabbed the victim in the upper back and took his Kindle and headphones, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital, where his condition was reported as stable, police said.

The suspect has been described as a black male in his late teens. He is between 5'8" and 5'10" and was wearing a red hat, a white shirt, a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black boots at the time of the stabbing.
