Police Seek 3 Men For Questioning In Death Of UWS Store Clerk

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for three men wanted for questioning in connection with the death of a popular Upper West Side store clerk killed during an apparent robbery.

Police responded to a 911 call around 2 p.m. Thursday and found 26-year-old Bubacarr Camara with severe head trauma at BNC General Merchandise, located at 906 Amsterdam Ave.

Camara later died at the Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital.

The victim's brother said Camara immigrated to the U.S. from the West African country of Gambia a few years ago.

Neighbors said the store is family owned and operated, in a busy part of the Upper West Side, not known for crime.

"It's a little unsettling this would happen in broad daylight across the street from a playground," Wendi Lee told CBS2.

Police have released surveillance images of the men wanted for questioning.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
