United Water New Rochelle Customers May See Discolored Water

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- United Water New Rochelle customers are being warned that water may be discolored for several hours Monday because of system repairs.

Customers in New Rochelle, Rye, Rye Brook, Bronxville, Tuckahoe, Pelham, North Pelham, Pelham Manor, Ardsley, Hastings-On-Hudson and Dobbs Ferry will be affected.

"The maintenance is an important part of the effort to provide ongoing safe and reliable service," said Lynda DiMenna, manager of United Water New Rochelle.

United Water said discoloration is cause by a buildup of harmless minerals and the water meets safe drinking standards, but suggests customers wait until it clears before using it for drinking, cooking or washing clothes.
