Light Show At UN Headquarters Emphasizes Global Goals

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The United Nations Headquarters were bedecked in brilliant lights Tuesday night, in a marketing campaign to support the UN's Global Goals for Sustainable Development program.

The goal of the campaign is to let the world know about the UN's plan for the future so all governments can be held accountable to it, according to a news release.

The campaign aims to end extreme poverty, fight equality and injustice, and fix climate change within the next 15 years.

There are 17 specific goals -- no poverty; zero hunger; good health and wellbeing; quality education; gender equality; clean water and sanitation; affordable and clean energy; decent work and economic growth; industry, innovation and infrastructure; reduced inequalities; sustainable communities and cities; responsible consumption and production; climate action; life below water; life on land; peace and justice and strong institutions; and partnerships for the goals.

The locally-based creative agency Trollbäck + Co. was brought in to design icons for all the goals.
