UES Penthouse Reportedly Belonging To Art Garfunkel Catches Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A fire broke out Thursday in an Upper East Side penthouse that reportedly belonged to iconic singer Art Garfunkel.

The fire broke late Thursday morning on the 15th floor of the building on 79th Street near Fifth Avenue, CBS2 reported.

No one was injured, according to the FDNY.

Multiple published reports said the penthouse belonged to Garfunkel. No one was home at the time of the fire, WCBS 880 reported.

The fire was blamed on a frozen pipe in the insulation, according to DNAInfo.

Apartments in the 79th Street building can go for tens of millions of dollars, WCBS 880 reported.
