UConn Fans Thrilled To Watch Huskies Win At MSG

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Exuberant UConn fans descended on Madison Square Garden Friday evening to watch their team beat Iowa State and reach the East Regional finals.

As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported with all of the blue and white and the chanting, it looked and sounded like a UConn home game.

"The game was amazing, man. It was amazing. Such a great vibe here in New York. I'm just glad to have a home game," one fan said.

It was a hot ticket, and another fan said he paid big bucks.

"I paid $300, and I would have paid $1,300 to come see them get the W like that. That was phenomenal," he said.

In the game, DeAndre Daniels scored 27 points, 19 in the second half, and UConn held off Iowa State 81-76 to reach the East Regional final a year after the Huskies were barred from the NCAA tournament.

UConn will face top-seeded Virginia or fourth-seeded Michigan State on Sunday for a trip to the Final Four.
