Police: Suspects Robbed, Attacked Man In Broad Daylight In Two Bridges

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were searching for two assailants who robbed a man and pushed him to the ground on in broad daylight in the Two Bridges area this past weekend.

Around 2:20 p.m. Sunday, the 37-year-old man was sitting on a bench at Catherine Slip and South Street, when a suspect approached and ripped his cellphone from his hand, police said. The site is near the Alfred E. Smith Houses public housing development.

The man tried to chase the suspect when a second man hit him from behind and pushed him to the ground, police said.

The suspects then ran off, police said.

Police have released photos of both suspects.

The incident happened near the location where another man was robbed of a Citi Bike on Monday, July 20. At 9:15 p.m. that day, two suspects knocked him to the ground, stole his bike, his cellphone and wallet containing credit cards.

The victim suffered injuries to his head and left elbow, police say.

The suspects later used his credit cards at several locations including a McDonald's restaurant, located at 52 Fulton St.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
