Trump: Ivanka Would 'Find Another Career' If Sexually Harassed At Work

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Donald Trump said that he hopes his daughter would "find another career" if she was sexually harassed in the workplace.

"I would like to think she would find another career or find another company if that was the case," Trump said in an interview with USA today.

The comment come after the GOP presidential nominee defended Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, who recently stepped down following a sexual harassment lawsuit from former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson. Within two weeks of the court filing, Carlson's lawyers also said more than 20 women had contacted the firm with stories of alleged harassment by Ailes either against themselves or someone they knew. Two came forward publicly.

In an interview with CBS This Morning, Eric Trump also echoed his father's statement saying:

"Ivanka is a strong, powerful woman. She wouldn't allow herself to be subjected to it."

The comment drew criticism on social media, with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly retweeting the quote alongside a simple one-word response:

Maybe one word can speak volumes.

Ivanka current serves as the Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions at the Trump Organization, as well as owns her own clothing line.
