Truck Fire, Accident Cause Major Delays On I-80 In New Jersey

TEANECK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Motorists on westbound Interstate 80 through New Jersey were seeing major delays during the Monday afternoon rush, due to two separate incidents involving trucks.

As CBS 2's Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2, a semi-trailer truck overturned on the ramp from the northbound New Jersey Turnpike to westbound I-80. The truck sustained a fuel spill, and drivers were delayed for an hour as a result.

But just a couple miles farther west, another truck caught fire. The blaze was in the process of being cleared during the 5 p.m. hour.

But as a result of the two delays combined, Biermann said to expect delays of an hour and a half to two hours through Teaneck and Hackensack.

It was not immediately learned whether anyone was injured in the two incidents.
